He strives to reinterpret traditional folk forms through contemporary creative expression, making them visually compelling and accessible to modern audiences worldwide. Equally important to him is nurturing young and talented students, inspiring them to pursue meaningful, sustainable careers in the field of dance.

Profile
Jeetendra Kumar is a distinguished connoisseur of dance and the dearest disciple of the Legendary Guru Bishwabandhu. He began his artistic journey as a folk dancer and later received rigorous training in Bharatanatyam. Over the years, he has devoted himself to the promotion and expansion of the Indian creative dance tradition—particularly the Uday Shankar Dance Style—under the guidance of Padmavibhushan Guru Amla Shankar & Padmashree Guru Mamta Shankar.

A graded artist of Doordarshan, Jeetendra Kumar has been awarded both a Scholarship and a Fellowship in Folk Dance by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. He also serves as a Contractual Artist with the Song and Drama Division, Government of India. His creative dance compositions and choreographic works have earned wide appreciation across India and abroad, reflecting his versatility, innovation, and deep cultural grounding.

Artistic Range & Experience

Beyond classical, folk and creative dance, Jeetendra’s artistic roots extend to theatre, having worked as a childhood theatre artist. This early exposure enriched his sense of dramaturgy, narrative structure, and stagecraft, which continue to inform his choreographic vision. His exceptional organizational and curatorial skills have enabled him to conceptualize, direct, and manage large-scale cultural productions and festivals.
